There's no universal right amount — but there are useful benchmarks. Set the age, tune how generous you feel, and see what it means per week, per month and per year.

Under 10, weekly is easier to grasp. Later, monthly teaches spreading it out.

Regularity matters more than the amount.

It took us a while to see that the amount mattered less than the regularity. A small amount paid without fail beats a big random one — that is what makes money predictable, and therefore manageable.
